A festive cheese ball shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for holiday gatherings. Easy to make and fun to decorate with family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives or 1 tbsp dried chives
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped parsley or dried dill (for coating)
  • Small red pepper pieces, cherry tomatoes, pimentos, or pepperoni slices (for decorations)
  • Crackers, breadsticks, or raw vegetables (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add shredded cheddar and sour cream (or Greek yogurt). Mix until combined.
  3. Stir in chives, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  4. Place a large sheet of plastic wrap on the counter. Spoon the cheese mixture onto the wrap and shape it roughly into a cone or tree shape. Wrap tightly and chill for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  5. Remove the chilled cheese cone from plastic wrap. Roll the outside lightly in chopped parsley or dill to create a green appearance.
  6. Press small red pepper pieces or other “ornaments” into the cheese ball. Add a small star shape from yellow bell pepper or a cracker at the top.
  7. Arrange on a platter with crackers and veggies around the tree and serve.

Notes

Chill the cheese ball for at least 1 hour before serving to firm it up. Best served chilled or at room temperature.
