Delightfully chewy cookies that blend the warm flavors of pumpkin and chocolate, enhanced by the tangy touch of sourdough.

  • 1 cup sourdough starter, unfed
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, pumpkin puree, and sourdough starter to the mixture. Stir until well blended.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For chewier cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
