A simple, crunchy treat that combines sweet caramel and dark chocolate with salty pretzels, perfect for snacks or gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pretzel pieces (twists or sticks, broken)
  • 10 oz dark or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies or jarred caramel sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter (if using caramel candies)
  • Sea salt or flaky salt to finish
  • Parchment paper and a baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment. Spread the pretzel pieces in an even layer.
  2. If using caramel candies, melt them with butter in a small pan over low heat, stirring until smooth, or warm jarred caramel sauce until pourable.
  3. Pour the caramel over the pretzels and spread it in a thin layer with a spatula.
  4. Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between bursts, until smooth, or melt over a double boiler.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and smooth with a spatula, swirling lightly for a marbled look if desired.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top.
  7. Chill in the fridge for at least 30–45 minutes until firm.
  8. Break into pieces and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge. Use parchment or wax paper between layers to stop pieces from sticking. Will last up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
