A comforting dish that combines the classic taste of Salisbury steak with the ease of meatloaf, topped with rich mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into a loaf.
  3. Place the meatloaf in a baking dish and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. While the meatloaf is baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until browned.
  5. Add flour to the mushrooms and stir for a minute, then slowly add beef broth, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens.
  6. Once the meatloaf is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve slices of meatloaf topped with the mushroom gravy.

Notes

Use lean ground beef for a healthier option. Let the meatloaf rest before slicing for easier serving. Feel free to add additional spices or herbs for extra flavor.
