A quick and cozy apple crisp baked right in a cast-iron skillet warm, buttery, and ready in under 30 minutes. The perfect quick dessert to bake for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until coated.
  • Spread the apples evenly into a buttered 10-inch cast-iron skillet.
  • In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter using a fork or fingertips until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbly
  • Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

  • You can substitute pears, peaches, or mixed berries for the apples.
  • Make ahead: assemble and refrigerate for up to 4 hours before baking.
  • For extra crunch, add 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping.
