Homemade eggnog is a festive, creamy beverage perfect for holiday gatherings, allowing you to personalize the flavors for your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Optional: 1 cup rum or bourbon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until the mixture is smooth and pale.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, followed by the vanilla extract and nutmeg.
  3. Pour the mixture into a pitcher, cover, and refrigerate for at least two hours.
  4. Before serving, stir the eggnog well. Optionally, add rum or bourbon to taste and serve in chilled glasses, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon.

Notes
